Hello,
We are often asked: "How can I get my own SSL certificate for web hosting?", whereas others regret that OVH no longer offers SSL.
We have decided to return to the SSL market but with a new, fully automatic offer and that functions without any need for manipulation on the part of the customer.
For £49.99 per year, we are offering to set up an IPv4 (IPv6 optional for free) dedicated to one website. We will install the SSL certificate on the IPv4 then we re-configure the site's DNS so that it uses this new IP instead of the hosting IP.
In terms of hardware, the service is based on high performance encryption cards that allow SSL at the same speed as without SSL. In any case, we don't use a server's CPU to make the SSL ;-). The infrastructure is made redundant by the master/slave principle ensuring high availability and an SLA of 99.999%
The service is offered at £49.99/year on ordering a new web hosting package. We will soon be offering the SSL option for all sites already running (directly in Web Control Panel).
The service is perfect for:
- e-commerce sites that need SSL without any hassle,
- resellers looking for added value and high performance technical service
- those who use SSL on the server directly, using standard CPU.
IPv4/IPv6 is an single IP dedicated to the site, which helps with SEO.
In technical terms, we generate an SSL certificate for your domain name, then we automatically install it on the infrastructure. You will be not be able to recover the files with the private key and the certificate (due to a security issue related to domain name theft).
The EV certificate option (which, by necessity, will cost more) is being reviewed. Yet the process of creating an EV is more complex and requires human validation. In any case, we will not offer installation of external certificates on our infrastructure.
If you are interested in this service for a VPS, dedicated server or dedicated cloud, please let us know and we'll think about it.

(This offer should be available by the end of August in UK).
Regards,
Octave
