Hmmmm.. Today I started to try out their smallest dedicated box with that U2250 thingie. When I start a wget to xs4all test file bins I could only achieve ~440Mbit/s but I quickly discovered that this is a box limition. The CPU/HDD simply couldn't cope with the speeds.
Still, it's not bad when you compare it with OVH's speed (100Mbit/s max). Thus for the speeds 'Online' seems to be much better.

Already tested the speeds with a fiber provider? If you would like to know that speed e.g. just let me know, I have a Concepts ICT 100/100 Mbit/s connection.

So I decided to do this;
wget -qO- http://download.xs4all.nl/test/1GiB.bin -O /dev/null

When I then measure the speed with iftop it resulted in ~830Mbit/sec which I think is quite nice. However, an upload test with scp to a Dutch 1 Gbit/sec server resulted in a speed of only around ~25 Mbit/sec.
I hope they'll do something about their connection, 25Mbit/s is way to slow for me. Btw. I always test with -O /dev/null because of hardware (harddrive) limitations.

It's to bad that their hard drives are 160GB instead of OVH's 500GB's ... I'm wondering the differences in speeds between OVH's mKS 2G and their VIAcpu servers. When I'll have some time I might go look around so I can compare the speeds e.g.

And still, no replies from Octave or some others at OVH. As soon as the truth will be said everyone becomes very silent.

I wonder what can be the reason for that because there should be a 100 Mbit/sec guaranty... Will try some more tests, I have until the rest of the month

Suggestions are welcome.

Hmmm, those prices are quite good... I did a traceroute and noticed that they have about 10 hops compared to OVH with 8 hops. The latency at OVH is about 8ms and the company you meant has 20ms.

I only have to figure out if they have some testfiles (1000mb.bin for example) so I'm able to test their network speed. To be hounest, when I'll upload or download a 1000mb.bin file from a dedicated server at OVH i'll get the pipeline full while Hetzner gave me about 70Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. So if the company you meant has a stable network connection without any problems It might be a good competitor to OVH :-)

Not only with their network but also with their prices :-)

LT 16G (SATA/SAS15K)

Which is a 1 Gbit connection / 200 Mbit garantued, Xeon E3 16 Gb, 2x 2 Tb instead of 1 (or SAS drives) + hardware RAID, KVM & remote reboot / rescue boot, RPN, Arbor DDOS capabilities.

€49.99 p/m.

Who is doing the mate here oles? Not OVH. Bye.
Maybe you could also put in a link to the LT 16G server which you are talking about nl2dav ?!
-----
Small note 1) still haven't got an answer on the question I made. After 7 years of beïng a patient and loyal customer of OVH it still seems Dutch customers aren't that important for OVH.

Small note 2) I'm currently back at OVH for a short time I hope. It seemed Hetzner's network as well support is just as worse at OVH's. And to avoid having that repeated everytime I'm currently saving some money to buy myself a server and put it into a company which is doing colocation it seems it's more expensive, but with all the patience and loyalty I've had to OVH and not having the right answer it's even cheaper than OVH currently offers!

To bad that an answer won't be given and the loyalty to current customers can't be found anywhere. Loyalty doesn't come from one side but both.

Hi Octave,

Why are these kind of offers always for new customers and aren't there any offers for existing customers ? It's quite strange that existing customers don't get any offers, it even looks like (in the past years) that OVH doesn't see them as valued customers.

Even some of those existing customers, who'd reported bad connections and other kind of problems didn't got anything in a way of a thank you.

It's good to see OVH comes with some kind of offers, but if valued customers are beïng handled this way - even those who'd reported allot of problems (like me) - you might loose them to other companies like (for example) Hetzner.de.

I hope you'll go and think about the current customers as well because, new customers are always welcome, but current customers have made your company this big - and allot of them doesn't like a thank you in this way !

Check...

And move the KS-16G €39.99 p/m.

Mate.

Learn more about this movement:
